swirls, continued...

   hello there,

Life is sometimes so full of designs. Like the smoke rising from a hearth of burning coal, fresh and peculiar scent fills the morning air ( in country side, and in major part of India, too ), and the very same starts with the setting of the sun, in the evenings...

Today a few of my designs will resemble that smoky dawns and those smoky-dusky-evenings of the country side India with some dreamy and imaginary patterns to be used in a quite modern way...

Black and white...a classic combination. Use this design on the kitchen or bathroom tiles. Using it one  after another--- it will surely create a wonder.

Sometimes in a coloured form ( please, choose the colours of your choice). Using it in the kids room will give a dreamy as well as a very dramatic look. Teaming up with equally bright (door and bed) mats and flowing-colourful drapes on the windows, some soft throws on the cosy rug, cool-cotton bed sheets,.... uhhhh...the dream goes on...

Use it as a framed wall-piece ( embroidered or painted...), paint it on bedsheets,or trays, ect., the choice is yours.

Paint or patch this one for a wall panel, or on spreads for trays, stencil or embroider it as a long border on towels, bedcovers, or even on curtains, ( finish the edges of bed linens and curtains by stitching a  2-3''  contrast cloth for a neat look. Laces, small cloth-balls, triangled edges, frills... choose any ends to make it look more charming and  '' I-use-it-more-often-piece ''.

Some modern piece for using it otherwise. A '' starting-from-nowhere-ending-everywhere '' pattern. Have this painted on the door, or on glass panes, or, better still, as a wall art !!! Stencil-paint it directly on the walls and see the neighbours peeping in for more...! Team it up with a contrast-solid coloured border on either sides or only on the bottom side for a finish look.

Designs for everyday use...for stained-glass windows, or embroidered pieces...this will look great on any surface.Having a modern and vintage touch, it will suit any life-style and soothe to all eyes. Print it or paint it, the soft pastle colours will look good on bed spreads, too.

A cool Summer print, especially for dress materials. The bordered edges on the sleeves and the fall ( of a flowing tunic ) will look nice and trendy. A light embroidery or some sequins ( or mirror work ) will give delicacy to the garment.

Well, why don't you have your doors painted, this season ??? Yeah sure, this design will surely give any door, a brand new look ! So its high time you give your ( at least one ) door , its due...and i'm sure you'll love it, too.

A bright and multi-hued-square piece for your wall. Have it painted directly on a ply-board or on a large canvas. Keeping it ' a-one-piece-attraction ',  the room won't need any other accessory, other than this, i bet. Won't you think the same???

Once again, a print for keeping oneself cool this summer. Aqua and black combi suits all.

.have a nice week till we meet next

After thirty years...( part 1 )

Hi to all the smiling eyes ,

'' After thirty years .....'' is not about a suspense thriller , yeah dear , nor is it about any murder mystery...! It is about some treasure which I borrowed from my mom , to share with you all ( aha ! the mystery ends here ) .

And , before I start to write anything concerning these designs , I must tell you all very honestly that these are  NOT my original works . As I earlier told you that these are all ' borrowed ' from my mom's collection .

I know that many of you will find some of these designs still in your collection . These are from a magazine ''SOVIET NAARI '' ( 'naari ' means ' woman ' in Hindi ) A complete woman magazine of its time , covering all the issues , from cookery to stitching and knitting , from political to parenting and kids' crafts ...

A lovely magazine revisited . As I don't have many designs left , I'll share all that is left with me , in this post , and a few in my next posts as well . The designs are presented as it is , but I've only given them colours ...

I know I love this doll... so cute ...

            Corner designs ...

I myself embroidered this on my pillow case , ages ago...But now I think it will also look lovely on trays and especially on glass-painting...

Border design repeated twice more for a dense look .

           A single pattern ...

More designs are on the way ... And before leaving , I'll once more tell you all that these are  NOT my original works ...

So , bye bye , see you next week with some more of my mom's collection .

paisley,continued...

The stained glass painting effect is fun and beautiful. Leave that stained glass colours which is often (or can say always) used while painting a glass, but now do it with oil or enamel colours which are used on doors etc., yeah the doors can wait to be painted later. First do the outlines with enamel paint in black or any dark colour, leave it to dry completely ---it can take a few hours, then turn the glass so that the outlined side is facing downwards and then fill the whole glass with the colours of your choice and avoid mixing the wet colours, leave it to dry completely once again---overnight, preferably...I like it painting this way so that the outlined part is facing me and the total effect is well a 3d one!!! Do it and see it for yourself. The “ students oil colours “ used on canvasses can also be used while filling, but it takes a few days to dry a single layer! It is a slow process but a different as well as a beautiful experience. I've used this pattern as a yoke on one of my dresses. I embroidered it, but doing it on glass was wonderful. As a solo performer...

A panel with leaves on the side borders...

A single border...and sometimes doubled, too...

A single beauty...

Dotted border...

Black and white border pattern...

Repetitions are good too...

Paper cut patterns with golden cone work...

Experimenting is always fun...I told you earlier also...!

paisleys-- stained glass effect ...

Working on glass is so much fun . How a simple and transparent glass changes into something glamorous and so very colourful , is something amazing !!

This is a '' FOUR SEASON ''pattern.

The Summer , as we see , is so full of bright and a variety of greens . The Sun , too, is somewhat brighter than any other months...The leaf , in shape of paisley depicts , the Summer ...and the lemon yellow is the bright sunlight...

Next ,comes the Winter , with it's dull and snowy days . Full of fog and frost , the leaves are no more green , and the sunny days---something of the past ! Everywhere you find the snow-covered branches . The brightness which we've earlier felt in Summer is lost , leaving only a dull and grey effect all over the surroundings...Here I show the fogginess of those days with dull shades because wherever we see its the fog which doesn't allow any leaf or flower to show its true colour...

Now comes the Autumn , when all the dead and old leaves shed themselves to give space for the new life to enter in this '' ALL - COLOURFUL '' world !! The colours , I chose are all in different shades of yellow and some browns ,too , to show the decay and fall... rarely you find some greens left and a few flowers...so I gave this paisley a few touches of orange and green to show that the dull days are ready to leave giving place for the brighter ones...!

Now , at last comes our Spring...a new life , a new beginning , a new and bright hope that ''ALL's WELL THAT ENDS WELL ...'' Everywhere you find flowers of all kinds and of all colours ... amazing isn't it ? The Autumn days are over ----''Love's in the air . The bright , blue and clear sky , the sunny days , the cool breezes , the green grass , the rainbows ---all promise a better future , so let's start dreaming in this beautiful world..!!

                                                         ....more patterns , awaiting .
