My design has been copied, AGAIN!!!

Hello Tuesday,

Today I am writing something different in my blog... Something that most of you designers have already written or are thinking of writing in near future. The topic is nothing new or amazing... Its just as simple as it can be --- '' My design has been copied by a company and is been used without my permission/without my knowledge!!! ''

So, is there anything new in this--- ah, NO!!! YUP, I hear this answer.

Most of you, my fellow designers/artist, have been going through this pain of getting your work copied and used without your permission. I know it hurts. Whether the company that uses it is big or small, but you are genuinely hurt. You are hurt because you are not given any credit of all those hard work, all those super brilliant ideas that had gone wasted just to create that ''simple'' design/artwork that catches other's eyes and are stolen quietly, printed on some beautiful products (as it is or may be sometimes the colours are changed to misguide YOU---THE CREATOR!!! )

Haa...haa... funny, isn't it???

And the one common thing you'll notice in all these crime is that the cheaters are designers themselves...!!! Working for some GREAT and REPUTED companies. Getting a good pay cheques for the cheating done properly--- very cleverly!

This is the case with me. My ''LOTUS MOTIF'' that I had posted in this blog sometimes in Aug-2011 has been copied and printed as stationery product, and now it is very gracefully decorating one of the shelves of an Indian company --- INDIA CIRCUS!!!

In my very own country, wow, really!!! Amazed, are you...??? Hmm... me too!
---------------------------------------------

You would have noticed that I used the word--- AGAIN --- in my blog title. Wondering why I used this word! Hmmm? Simply because this is not the first time that my design has been copied and used by some company... Yes, you guessed right, it had happened to me a few times before too... and may be now I am quite used to it too (smile). I know I am a fabulous designer! No, not kidding, seriously!

OK, OK, jokes apart, how do you feel or what do you do in such a situation...? OK, what I did was to keep mum, yes, I didn't had guts to fight with big companies... I was new in this treacherous industry at that time!

But now I have learned from my experience that ''This is a highly competitive industry, and everyone is ready to cut your throat to get to the TOP!''

I am a designer too... I am a hard-working surface designer, burning my midnight oil to create every single motifs/repeat patterns... And the result ends in getting it been copied and selling elsewhere without my knowledge. Why? Am I cheating on any other fellow designer? Am I copying your work to get that topmost position in this creative market?  No, I am not doing anything like this.

Why do people don't understand that without true knowledge, without creativity inside you, how many times will you cheat others and get the credit??? Don't you feel any guilt when the companies praise you for your super brilliant ideas and designs that are not originally your own??? Do you ever get the peace within when you know deep inside your heart that you are not a designer--- YOU ARE A CHEATER!!!

I am a designer and have written very clearly in GOOD ENGLISH too that I do commissioned work and give my designs for licensing too!!! So, why don't these cheaters read these lines when they come to my blog searching for some ''so-called inspiring designs and ideas'', and who all the time end in coping my design--- taking all the credit and leaving me feel hurt and lost! LOOSERS--- that's what we are, isn't it..???
Its simply because we are the people who always stay behind the scene. Because we are the people with small websites and no big and famous brands are behind our backs to support our talents--- our Creativity. We do commissioned works, meet deadlines, get cheated, rejected... but we never complain! NEVER!

I know I sound harsh today... very harsh, but this is the only way I can release my failures, my anger!

-----------------------------

Do you think I am wrong?

If you want to share your experience with the readers about how you felt when something similar happened to you, you are absolutely free to write it down in the comment area. And, if you want to be anonymous because of any fear then you can mail me about your thoughts and views... I will be glad to read it!

Thank you for your patience for reading this long post....

Have a lovely week ahead, see you all soon next week!

as you like it .....

        Hi ,

I am really confused with the appropriate title for this post . It's not floral , neither it is abstract , nor it is ethnic , so what actually it is ??? yes dear , I'm asking you people ... !  What do you think must be a suitable name ?  --- guess and let me know !

Starting with a solo floral pattern ( above ) , I've made a few further modifications / additions , and variations in colour combinations too .

          Enjoy your visit here !!!

         Something different ,

How to use these motifs ? No problem , embroider it with filling and outline stitches , or paint it on any of your favourite surface --- fabric ( for a dress , stoles , shopping bags , cushions , curtains ,  ) , wood ( doors , tables , chair backs , etc .) , trays , glass , mirror ... to name a few .Why not paint it simply on a white handmade paper , frame it , decorate your place or gift it to a friend who has a liking for handmade gifts ... and who can value your simple and loving gestures !

            In black and white ,

         see you next week .

After thirty years...(part 2)

  Hi ,

As promised to you all , I'm continuing my '' After thirty years... ( part 2 ) . I have a feeling that this series is going to be a real long one . Well , today also there are some more embroidery motifs from the SOVIET NAARI ( magazine ) . I hope you remember me describing about it in my last post .

So , friends , here are a few to be embroidered on hankies too . Painting them on any surfaces , is always an option for you . As usual , the choice of colours will obviously be your own .

These designs were in black and white , and with the time , it got paler and delicate . So I scanned and photoshoped it , but still there are places where the motifs have broken lines , or say ,  they are not very clear ---  but you see these are the treasures I have , and that I'm sharing with you all .

              a beautiful ( imaginary ) bird ,

the same bird with small bunches of flowers .

a beautiful bouquet of assorted flowers ,

           a bunch , once again ...

this was something to be embroidered on the sleeves of a garment ...

the same motif in corners ...

Next week , I will continue with the '' mom's collection '' . I hope you all are enjoying your visits here , and are getting inspired and creative ...( like our moms ) ...

                                         bye , have a nice time ...

After thirty years...( part 1 )

Hi to all the smiling eyes ,

'' After thirty years .....'' is not about a suspense thriller , yeah dear , nor is it about any murder mystery...! It is about some treasure which I borrowed from my mom , to share with you all ( aha ! the mystery ends here ) .

And , before I start to write anything concerning these designs , I must tell you all very honestly that these are  NOT my original works . As I earlier told you that these are all ' borrowed ' from my mom's collection .

I know that many of you will find some of these designs still in your collection . These are from a magazine ''SOVIET NAARI '' ( 'naari ' means ' woman ' in Hindi ) A complete woman magazine of its time , covering all the issues , from cookery to stitching and knitting , from political to parenting and kids' crafts ...

A lovely magazine revisited . As I don't have many designs left , I'll share all that is left with me , in this post , and a few in my next posts as well . The designs are presented as it is , but I've only given them colours ...

I know I love this doll... so cute ...

            Corner designs ...

I myself embroidered this on my pillow case , ages ago...But now I think it will also look lovely on trays and especially on glass-painting...

Border design repeated twice more for a dense look .

           A single pattern ...

More designs are on the way ... And before leaving , I'll once more tell you all that these are  NOT my original works ...

So , bye bye , see you next week with some more of my mom's collection .

greens and blues ...

  hello ,

Rain drops dripping from all over , the green grass , the clear blue sky ... do they say something to you ???  humm...oh ,.... its '' rainy season '' dear...!!!

This week I bring the green and blue colours --- from land to sky , from earth to heaven , from trees to water... sorry , for being so philosophical , but really when I see outside my window I see this poetic beauty .

...quite similar to the MUGHAL PAINTINGS , this leaf motif can be painted on any surface , embroidered , or printed ...

... machine or hand embroidery with filling stitches , or paint it ...

...a single motif to be done repeatedly on curtains and bed sheets etc...

... embroider the leaves in outline stitch on all the blue part and then patch it on your dress etc...

...some painting in ceramic can also be tried...or on glass --- after painting just put some crushed handmade paper at the back ( before framing) for this look ...

I love the combination of these two colours , and how I wish to paint them wherever I want . So I wish that you also cheer up your homes with the greens , this monsoon ...

                                             bye , see you...

                                       have a refreshing week ...

floral patterns ---1

           hello summer,
as here , in India , we don't quite enjoy spring for long , so its better to welcome summer when it comes... Greens and yellows all around . I also bring you here , patterns full of summer colours . Some fresh motifs , some fresh prints to be thought of using these months ...Embroider it , paint it , block print it , or have it printed on paper or fabric , it will give your place a welcoming look .

          a single flower ,

floral embroidery pattern

... nothing looks better than this truly classic black and white . And when combined with some other colours its effect is doubled .
white polkas over black with a floral border looks nice . The contrast is eye catching , but not too loud to hurt the eyes ...

black and white print

an over all print for fashion fabric is cute . Spreading all over are the polkas in matching colours --- pink , green , yellow , and brown . A combination of cool colours fills this summer print .

floral print

pink background filled with yellow flowers --- is good enough for treating the walls of  your daughter's room . Cute strawberry pink wall will be surely liked by her !

pink floral pattern

a full motif to be painted or embroidered on the pillow cases or on throws . Table runners , place mats  or stoles ... choose any surface , just change the motif a little bit as required .
